It's Just Not About Me!

Philippians 2:17-18, Devotion #16

But even if my life is to be poured out like a drink offering to complete the sacrifice of your faithful service (that is if I am to die for you), I will rejoice, and I want to share my joy with all of you. And you should be happy about this and rejoice with me.
Philippians 2:17-18

Father, it hits me strongly today the thought: "It's just not about me!" Paul's life was truly being "poured out like a drink offering." It is certainly not that he liked that. But he knew that it was for the eternal sake of those with whom he shared the good news of Jesus. His life was not based on what he could see, hear, smell or touch. Eternity was the issue for him and that people's eternal life lived with You was of utmost importance. Father, you sent Jesus for our eternal lives, not just for today. Thank you!

It is a wonderful thing that we are allowed to be involved in the Kingdom's work. It is a wonderful thing that we are allowed to be involved in such meaningful work…eternal work. And we, your people: people called by You, people loved by You, people whom You hold in Your hands: we want to do whatever we can do to "complete the sacrifice," if there should be a sacrifice called for, for the sake of others. We will do what You want us to do. Fill us with Your love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.

Father, we know that it is truly just not about us! And at the same time, You do care for us and fill us with Your abundant blessings. There are so many I see that are living lives which demonstrate that they know that "it's just not about them." What joy! And we "will rejoice" even more. Come Holy Spirit!

Thank you, Father, in Jesus name. Amen.

Love, Dad / Danny
