A Life Poured Out! Philippians 2:17-18, Devotion #5
But even if my life is to be poured out like a drink offering to complete the sacrifice of your faithful service (that is if I am to die for you), I will rejoice, and I want to share my joy with all of you. And you should be happy about this and rejoice with me. Philippians 2:17-18
Father, a life "poured out like a drink offering" is a wonderful life. And choosing to spend life, invest life, use life as a "drink offering," a nourishment offering, and "energizing offering," what a wonderful thing to do and what a wonderful choice.
To think back about lives that have been to me as a "drink offering," I think of Bob, Dave, Hall, Tom, Hal . . . truly, the list would go on. The phone call from Dan last week was a sweet call. Dan met Jesus in about 1970. He was one of those people who cause us to say, "I will rejoice!" He was one who made being a "drink offering" worth anything it might of cost us. Yes, he came to know Jesus and 37 years later still grows in that knowledge. He called just saying thanks and to remind me of the "nourishment" that a "drink offering" can be.
Father that was a long time ago! And I ponder today, are we - am I -still pouring "out like a drink offering" or have we grown complacent in our desire to love others for Your sake? What joy to be "poured out" for the sake of another's eternity. What joy to see others learning to pour out for the sake of another's eternity! No question, we are so greatly blessed to be given in Your world. Nourish others through these pourings. Come Holy Spirit.
Thank You, Father, in Jesus name. Amen.
Love, Dad / Danny
