Complete the Sacrifice! Philippians 2:17-18, Devotion #6
But even if my life is to be poured out like a drink offering to complete the sacrifice of your faithful service (that is if I am to die for you), I will rejoice, and I want to share my joy with all of you. And you should be happy about this and rejoice with me. Philippians 2:17-18
Father, it's a joy to be involved in Kingdom work no matter how wonderful things seem to be or how dry they seem to be at times. The response of folks to the work we are doing really does not measure the quality of the effort. Sometimes great work, in our thought and mind, produces seemingly little fruit and sometimes when we think we are hitting home runs, we really aren't accomplishing much.
I was talking with a friend recently who shared about a great speaker who came and spoke at their church and not much happened. And there was another occasion where the speaker was terrible and lots of incredible life change happened. To all of this, I simply say, "Come Holy Spirit!" Fact is, we do hold a treasure, Jesus, in our "hearts of clay." And "apart from Him we can do nothing (of eternal significance) at all!" We want to do our small part and we know that You, Father, will do the big part.
It is incredible to me that a life "poured out" for You can have such powerful impact on other lives for all of eternity. Bless the continued faithfulness of Your beloved to "complete the sacrifice" that You have called them to. Strengthen the hands that grow weary, refresh the heart that needs rest, quench the lonely thirst of every one who comes to You. You fill us with "living waters." Quench our parched souls! Come Holy Spirit.
Thank You, Father, in Jesus name. Amen.
Love, Dad/Danny
