Whatever we do as our vocation, we are called to do it with excellence. We are to do all things as unto the Lord, regardless of whether we like our company or the work, whether our boss is kind, unkind, competent, or incompetent.

Broadly speaking, a doxology is any song sung within a corporate worship setting since what we are doing as we stand, and sing is ascribing praise to God! As we sing, our hearts and our minds should be fully engaged with the words we are singing.

Music is powerful. It may not tame the savage beast as they say, but it can have a profound impact on our emotions. Every week we come together to experience the presence of God through worship.

Since 2019, I’ve had the privilege of serving as one of the worship leaders at Orchard Hill Church. Though there are many tasks worship leaders complete on a day-to-day basis, I've tried my best to narrow it down to three simple activities.

Have you ever tasted something so wonderful and delicious that you had to share it with someone else? Worship is like that. Worship seems to elevate when there are others around to experience it with us. It’s as if God wired us to experience certain things more deeply in community.

Throughout the ages, the church has been on the cutting edge of creativity in music and the arts. From Jubal, the first musician mentioned in the Bible, through David and Solomon, to the extraordinary music of Bach and the High Church age, followers of God have consistently innovated in music and the arts.

As Christians, our worship is to be devoted to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. However, in the current world we live in, there are constantly people and products vying for our attention and ultimately our worship. Therefore, it is crucial that we constantly make sure that our worship is focused solely on the Lord.

When asked how to engage God in worship, two words come to mind. Attention and Intention. Giving God our attention and setting our intentions on Him in all that we do. The question is what is the object of our worship?

Life has become magnified in the past month; our daily schedules and priorities have changed. But when we remember or see for the first time that life is not about us but about God’s desire for us to know Him, this Lenten season becomes even more magnified. Life is short and God is all we need.
